WOBA Mission

To provide an organization for the members of the West Olympia business community to join together to promote a political, economic and social atmosphere of mutual support so that all West Olympia business people may pursue their economic goals with dignity and respect from their fellow businesses, government, and the community at large.

Goals and Objectives

Each year the West Olympia Business Association assesses progress on previous goals and establishes new goals and objectives for the future. Grounded in the mission of the organization and the needs of member businesses, these goals create focus and achievable measures of progress toward achieving the mission. All members have a voice in the goal and objective setting process and opportunities to participate in fulfilling the work plan.

Goal 1

  • Ensure the WOBA membership continues to grow.

    Objectives

    • Increase total number of members to 70.
    • Increase number of sustaining members to 5.
    • Increase number of neighborhood members to 3.

Goal 2

  • Ensure the inclusion of a sub-area plan as part of the City of Olympia Comprehensive Plan update.

    Objectives

    • Have WOBA representation at each planning meeting.
    • Host a program for the membership on sub area planning.
    • Sustain and support the Comprehensive Plan Update Committee.

Goal 3

  • Ensure an adequate Police Force presence on the West Side.

    Objectives

    • Partner with other West Olympia organizations to raise funds for the West Side police annex.
    • Host the new Police Chief as the program for the membership at an early Membership meeting.

Goal 4

  • Support the development of a West Olympia Plaza.

    Objectives

    • Support fundraising efforts for the public plaza.
    • Host a program for the membership on the CVG Plaza Project.
    • Plan a joint fundraiser in support of the West Olympia Plaza Project.
    • Partner with the West Olympia Community Visioning Group (CVG) to communicate the vision for a West Olympia Plaza to the general public.

Goal 5

  • Support completion of West Olympia Traffic analysis.

    Objectives

    • Have WOBA representation at each planning meeting.
    • Investigate alternative funding options for completion of the study.
    • Host a program on the Transportation Mobility Strategy.
